Parihaka

In Room One we are learning about Parihaka.
I really enjoyed making the words.
I found it challenging to get the albatross feather.

Over one hundred years ago there was a village in Taranaki called Parihaka.  This village was special because people from many different Maori tribes had come to live there. Many had had their land destroyed by soldiers and needed a safe place to live – to grow their food and raise their families. Parihaka was also a special place because they showed peace to their enemies. When the soldiers arrived the children danced and sang for them. The women made bread for them. The soldiers felt guilty because the people of Parihaka had no weapons and wouldn't fight back. They believed in God and didn't want to fight. The soldiers put the men in jail and destroyed there land but didn't kill anyone because they felt guilty. When the men got out of jail they rebuilt the village.

Climate Change

In room 1 we have been learning about Climate change
I enjoyed writing it.
I found it challenging to finish it on time.

Climate Change

We have all heard of it but what is climate change and what is it doing to our planet? Climate change is Move of sun, rain, wind, and snow.

One of the main  reasons is that the Amazon rainforest is Burning Down.It covers most of Brazil.

The Amazon rainforest is also known as earth's lungs because it holds 20% of oxygen for the Earth.

Another very important reason is that glaciers are melting sea levels are rising which floods lowland and  sea Temperature is getting warmer.

Sea life cannot survive in warm water.

Fossil fuels are also affecting climate change. Such as coal, fuel, petrol, and oil. When these fossil fuels and many more get

burnt they release carbon dioxide and other gases. When people use petrol cars all of those gases and fumes go into the ocean and sea life die.

In conclusion I believe that you should try to stop climate change because of all the fossil fuels being released the glaciers that are melting and the wildfires in the Amazon rainforest.

Caged Chickens Should be BANNED!!!

In room one we have been arguing about
if Chickens should be Caged or not
I found it easy to finish on time.
I found It hard to use the right words.
here's are success Criteria...
write a title that tells the reader
 about the issue being argued✅
use a rhetorical question
write an introduction that
 includes my three main points❌
organise my ideas into paragraphs ✅
make sure each paragraph has a
 main point and two examples✅
write a conclusion that includes
my three main points❌
edit for spelling and punctuation❌
present my work to a peer for assessment✅

 here's my work...
Would you want to be stuck in a cage with lots of other chickens?!I firmly believe that caged chickens should be banned!!!

One of the main reasons is that they can't move and get squished. Each chicken only has the space smaller than an A4 piece of paper.82% of hens that lay eggs in New Zealand are caged. Chicken Farmers can fit 45,000 chickens in one shed.

Another important reason that chickens should not be caged is they cant act like a chicken should act. They like to Scratch for food. And Like to have dust baths but when they're locked up in a cage they can't!!! They can’t stretch their legs. or flap their wings.

Also they get lots of diseases. One of those diseases are weak bones A.K.A  Osteoporosis. They get fatty liver disease. And they also get Ricketts which is a loss of vitamin D.

In conclusion I believe that Caged chicken should be banned. Because of the diseases they get how squished they are and they can't act like a chicken.

Outside, frosty frozen branches waved around in the air. Clouds covered the tip of the mountains  that were snowy cold and numbing my feet. The silent sky was still and calm. As I ran inside I could still see the frosty frozen branches  blowing in the air.

Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton

In Room 1 we are learning about saints, the saint I have chose is saint Elizabeth Ann Seton I enjoyed learning all types of things about her. I found finding things about her challenging. Here are the things I found out about her...

Elizabeth Ann Bayley was born in New York City just before the American Revolution began. She was just two years old when her mother died. 2 years later, her sister Catherine died.

When she was 19 years old, Elizabeth met and married William Seton a businessman. Soon they had two lovely children and another one on the way. Then suddenly William’s father died, and many  ships belonging to the family business got attacked by pirates. And not long later William got bankrupt. And not long later Elizabeth’s Father died.Soon after William developed a disease called tuberculosis.

Sadly William had died after they had arrived in Italy. With the ship not Ready to sail back to America 28 year old Elizabeth was alone with anna in a foregin country.Mr and Mrs Antonio Filicchi kindly took them into their home.Elizabeth who had been raised in the church, began learning about Catholic faith from her Italian friends.Elizabeth couldn't stop thinking about Jesus is really Present  in the holy Eucharist.
A priest eventually invited Elizabeth to open a school for girls in  Baltimore. Some other young woman also came to help. Soon they formed a religious group called the sisters of charity. They became the first Catholic school in the United States run by Sisters. They called Elizabeth Mother Seton and her Symbol was a pink flower. Elizabeth died of tuberculosis When she was only 42 on the 4th of January 1821. She is the first native born North American Saint.

Fizz,Foam and Froth

Have you ever wondered what makes things Fizz,Foam and Froth?

A physical change is reversible like how you can change ice back into water. A chemical change is irreversible that means it can't change it back.

When you put baking soda and white vinegar together it will explode how does this happen? Well When  you add the white vinegar to the baking soda it changes the properties of the baking soda.
